Has anyone shipped an assembled office chair before by uk courier?
If you have, who did you use to ship the chair and how much did it cost? Also was the chair damaged in transit?
My problem is that the chair when bought was fully assembled and was delivered by their inhouse logistics. If I take it apart and ship separately, my warranty is void, plus I might not be able to put it back together well.
The brand of the chair is Herman Miller, but other branded ergonomic chairs probably come pre-assembled like this one. So anyone with exp of shipping one themselves in the UK?
Thanks
I occasionally used to ship office chairs to another part of the country, I don't recall the firm I used but in any case it probably wouldn't be local to you.
From experience here's what I'd recommend.
Don't entertain using a national carrier, as soon as the chair is out of your sight it will literally be thrown off the lorry and thrown back onto another - and I mean thrown!
Ring a couple of reasonable sized office furniture dealers in your area and ask if they can recommend someone, chances are they will have shipped single chairs somewhere.
If you do leave it assembled, wrap every part of it in a good layer of bubble wrap and if you can get a large box from somewhere, put it in that too.
Taking it apart isn't too difficult if you're careful, you just need to remove the gas lift, see http://www.blog.officechairadvice.com/tips-and-tricks-for-replacing-your-office-chair-pneumatic-gas-lift and http://www.blog.officechairadvice.com/how-do-i-put-an-office-chair-together for information on what to do.
